Reorganized for Life: Balance and Purpose – She Orders

As I sat in the doctor’s office, waiting impatiently for a routine shot before my trip to Africa, I couldn’t help but feel agitated. The room was filled with people, each lost in their own world, and time seemed to drag on. However, little did I know that this mundane scenario was about to offer me a profound lesson in life and love.

I found myself drawn to compliment a lady’s sweater. It was a stunning shade of orange, my favorite color, and it seemed to radiate warmth and vibrancy. Reluctantly, I struck up a conversation, not realizing that this small act of kindness was about to unravel a story of deep sorrow and desperation.

The woman, Sheila, shared with me her struggles and her contemplation of ending her life. As I listened, I was overwhelmed with a sense of responsibility and urgency. It wasn’t about my skills as a counselor or my ability to fix her problems. It was about being present, listening, and offering a moment of connection and hope.

In that packed waiting room, we created a private space with a newspaper, where I whispered a prayer for Sheila. It wasn’t about grand gestures or eloquent words. It was about sincerity, about reaching out to someone in their moment of need, and showing them that they are not alone.

This experience taught me a valuable lesson about the power of human connection and the impact of small acts of kindness. It reminded me that our lives are not just about schedules and routines. They are about the people we meet along the way and the opportunities we have to make a difference, however small.

In our quest for organization and order in our lives, it’s important to stay open to the unexpected. To be flexible enough to offer help when it’s needed, to recognize the struggles of others, and to be willing to step out of our comfort zones to be a source of support and encouragement.

This story is a reminder to all of us to reorganize our priorities, to make room for compassion, and to embrace the opportunities to love and support those around us. It’s about finding balance in our lives, not just in terms of time and resources, but in our capacity to care and connect with others.

As we journey through life, let’s strive to be more attentive, more compassionate, and more willing to lend a hand. Let’s reorganize our lives not just for efficiency, but for empathy, kindness, and love.

So, I leave you with these thoughts:

  • How flexible is your schedule? Can you make room, like in a well-organized closet, to help others?
  • Are you open to reorganizing your life, much like organizing a small space, to assist someone in need?
  • In your pursuit of a decluttered and orderly life, can you recognize when others are struggling?
  • And, would you be open to offering a prayer or supportive words, as freely as you would offer clothes for donation near you?

These reflective questions encourage readers to consider the practical aspects of living a life that is not only well-organized but also rich in compassion and willingness to help others.
